Have you ever felt different from those around you?
Perhaps you've always felt like you were working harder than everyone else just to keep up. Maybe social situations feel exhausting, organisation feels overwhelming, or you've spent years wondering why things that seem effortless for others feel so difficult for you.
As awareness of neurodivergence continues to grow, many adults are recognising traits of Autism, ADHD, or both (AuDHD) within themselves. For some, this realisation comes after seeing their experiences reflected in social media, books, podcasts, or television. For others, it happens when their child receives a diagnosis, when life circumstances become more demanding, or after years of feeling misunderstood.
At Mind Co, we understand that exploring your neurotype can be both empowering and emotional. Many people describe the process as bringing a sense of relief, validation, self-understanding, and self-compassion.
Our assessments are designed to help you better understand yourself through a respectful, evidence-based, and neuroaffirming process that recognises your strengths, challenges, identity, and lived experience.

People seek Autism and ADHD assessments for many different reasons.
You may already strongly identify as Autistic, ADHD, or AuDHD and be seeking formal confirmation. Alternatively, you may simply be exploring whether neurodivergence could help explain some of your experiences.
Some potential benefits of assessment include:
Greater self-understanding and self-acceptance
Understanding your strengths as well as your challenges
Improved communication with family members, partners, friends, and colleagues
Access to more tailored therapy, coaching, or support
Increased understanding of sensory, social, emotional, and executive functioning differences
Access to workplace or study accommodations where appropriate
Connection with the broader neurodivergent community
Supporting applications for services or funding where relevant
A diagnosis isn't about finding what's "wrong" with you. It's about gaining a deeper understanding of how your brain works and how to best support yourself moving forward.

Megan is a Clinical Psychologist with extensive experience supporting adults.
She has worked across clinical, organisational, rural, remote, and Indigenous community settings and has a particular interest in supporting neurodivergent adults.
Megan understands the impact that missed, misunderstood, or late-identified neurodivergence can have on a person's wellbeing, identity, relationships, and sense of self. Her approach is holistic, relational, strengths-based, and deeply respectful of each person's unique story.
Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, Megan seeks to understand the broader context of your life, experiences, strengths, and challenges to ensure any diagnosis is meaningful, useful, and personally relevant.

Step 2: Intake Forms & Questionnaires
Prior to your assessment, you'll receive a comprehensive intake package.
This includes questions about your background, developmental history, education, work experiences, relationships, strengths, challenges, and day-to-day functioning.
You will also complete screening questionnaires that explore areas such as:
ADHD traits
Autism traits
Sensory experiences
Executive functioning
Social communication
Masking and camouflaging behaviours
Emotional wellbeing
Daily functioning

Step 3: Intake Session
You'll meet with Megan for an intake session where you'll discuss your reasons for seeking assessment and explore your history in greater detail.
This session allows Megan to gain a thorough understanding of your experiences and ensure the assessment process is tailored to your individual circumstances.
It's also an opportunity for you to ask questions and determine whether the process feels like the right fit for you.

Step 4: Comprehensive Clinical Assessment
The assessment itself is conducted through a structured but conversational clinical interview.
This is not a test and there are no right or wrong answers.
Megan will work through the diagnostic criteria with you while exploring your lived experiences, strengths, challenges, coping strategies, and life history.
Approximate assessment times:
ADHD Assessment: 1.5 hours
Autism Assessment: 2 hours
Combined Autism & ADHD Assessment: 3 hours
Additional questionnaires or information may occasionally be requested if further clarification is required.

Step 5: Diagnostic Formulation & Report
Following your assessment, Megan carefully reviews all available information and prepares a comprehensive diagnostic report.
Your report outlines:
Assessment findings
Diagnostic conclusions (where applicable)
Clinical observations
Strengths and protective factors
Recommendations for supports, accommodations, and next steps
Reports are typically completed within approximately three weeks of the assessment.

Step 6: Feedback Session
Once your report is complete, you'll attend a feedback session with Megan.
During this session, she will:
Explain the assessment findings
Discuss any diagnoses provided
Answer your questions
Explore recommendations and next steps
Help you understand how the findings relate to your everyday life
Our goal is for you to leave feeling informed, supported, and empowered.

Step 7: Ongoing Support
Assessment is often just the beginning.
Following your assessment, you may choose to access ongoing therapeutic support through Mind Co, or we can help connect you with appropriate services, resources, and community supports.

A few things can help make the process easier:
Gather Information
If available, collect any relevant documents such as school reports, previous assessments, medical information, or workplace reports.
Take Your Time
The intake forms can feel detailed. There's no need to rush. Completing them thoughtfully helps us gain a clearer understanding of your experiences.
Create a Comfortable Space
For telehealth appointments, find a quiet and comfortable environment where you feel safe and supported.
Consider Supports
Some people find it helpful to have a trusted support person available before, during, or after their appointment.
Remember
This is not an exam.
There are no right or wrong answers.
The assessment process is about understanding you, your experiences, and your unique way of navigating the world.

If you're curious about Autism, ADHD, or AuDHD and would like to explore whether assessment is right for you, we'd love to help.
